“Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment.” (Mindfulness Definition)

Mindfulness is also a socialization process that has a strong attitudinal component, which includes wellness and self-care, mental health, life learning strategies, time management and motivation, and skills and attitudes that are part of “the hidden curriculum.” For the medical student, mindfulness should result in higher retention, graduation and satisfaction rates.
